We are Nazarene
The Church of the Nazarene is the largest denomination in the classical Wesleyan-Holiness tradition. We are a global denomination that was founded in 1908 and exist today in 165 world areas. The doctrine that distinguishes the Church of the Nazarene and other Wesleyan denominations from most other Christian denominations is that of entire sanctification. Nazarenes believe that God calls Christians to holy living that is marked by an act of God, cleansing the heart from original sin and filling the individual with love for God and humankind.
We are a Great Commission church (Matthew 28:18-20). Therefore, the mission of the Nazarene Church is “to make Christlike disciples of all nations”. We are commissioned to take the good news of life in Jesus Christ to everyone everywhere and to spread the message of holiness across the globe. We live to first, glorify God in holy living, and then second, be active participants in His Mission – reconciling the world to Himself. 100+ Years of Ministry
Fort Smith First Church of the Nazarene has been part of the north side community for generations—rooted in a 1924 tent revival, shaped by faithful pastors, strengthened through church mergers, and literally built by the hands of its people. From Blair Ave to Kelley Highway to our current home on North O Street, our congregation has poured its heart into ministry, outreach, Work & Witness, and community care. Today we continue to grow, serve, and look ahead with expectancy for what God will do next. Read our full history here (link).
